St. Brigid Overview

“Pride in what we do and say, in all our work and when we play”

St. Brigid of Ireland is the patron saint of scholars. Her key virtues were charity and justice, with hospitality being one of her greatest attributes. These qualities contribute to the name of our school and are a great signature for the Ayr Catholic Community to emulate.

St. Brigid Catholic Elementary School opened as the community’s first Catholic school in September of 1998. Currently 191 students are enrolled from Grades JK-8. Our students come from the North Dumfries township, including rural and urban areas.

For a small school, you would be surprised how much happens within these humble walls. From numerous athletic teams, to various clubs, and social justice initiatives, it is a thriving school community that is often referred to as a “diamond in the rough.”

As a family and faith-based oriented community, St. Brigid School is extremely fortunate to have the strong support of both parents and municipal leaders. With the integration of St. Brigid Mission, we strive to live out the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations in what we do and say, in all our work and when we play.

As we enter our 19th year in our original building and location, we plan and look forward to the building of a new, permanent school to continue the tradition and growth of our Celtic pride.

“We dared to dream together and that dream became reality.”
